I was hacked on Friday. I've got my account back, but I've been unable to find anything on my pc that would have been used to get my account. I've run Nortons, Malware, spybot and adware several times with no luck. I've done simple searches for common password trojans with no luck. The email I used for the battlenet account was a hotmail account and I use it for alot of public forms when I have to fill them out, and have since changed my email account associated with the WoW account. And of course the passwords on everything are changed now.

Now the only thing I wonder now is, was it maybe someone got my information by getting into my email account (addmittedly the password wasn't very good)?

Oh, and I have an authenticator on the way, I should have done it earlier I know. This shit sucks.

On the bright side, I have slightly more gold than I did before the hack and should hopefully get my gear back before long.

Having your account hacked doesnt necessarily means the problem is on your machine. Do you change passwords lets say, ever 2-3 months? Does anyone else EVER knew your password and may have logged from their home? Did you log on to WoW from someone elses home, notebook, pc at work or something? And in "log on to WoW" i mean battle.net website, worldofwarcraft.com/account, armory or even the mail linked to your battle.net account.

On a side note, there has been info from 2 or 3 months ago where several mail accounts from gmail, yahoo and hotmail had their passwords leaked. How long the list has been out before they warned us to change our passwords, nobody knows smile.gif.

I only log on from home, but I've had the same password since the game started....and its wasn't the best one and it was one of like 3 I use in several places. So, if they got into my hotmail account info its possible they were able to work their way into my account. As far as the password thing goes, that's all been changed now. My passwords are much harder both for me to remember and for people to figure out.
